Mafikeng: Segongwana Charity Run
Segongwana Bike Riders, based in Mafikeng, Northwest, once again demonstrated the power of unity and community spirit during their annual charity rally, held on the 30th and 31st of August at Mmabatho Stadium. With their motto “TSHELA KE TSHELE,” which translates to “Sharing is Caring,” Segongwana MCC embodies the values of giving back, and this year’s event was no exception.

The rally, which always carries a special theme—Military, encouraged attendees to wear military regalia, adding a unique and unified aesthetic to the event. The event kicked off on a slow note on Friday evening but swiftly gained momentum on Saturday morning as bikers from across the region and different provinces in South Africa assembled at Mmabatho Stadium. The highlight of the event was the mass ride to Segongwana’s chosen charity for 2024, the “Kgaratlo Project For The Blind.” This remarkable centre is dedicated to empowering visually impaired individuals by teaching them essential skills such as computer literacy. This effort served as a reminder that biking is not just a passion but a therapy for the soul, it an environment which allows individuals to connect with their communities and make a positive impact.

Upon returning from the charity home, the stadium buzzed with excitement as bikers and attendees prepared for a series of traditional biker games. The air was filled with laughter and excitement as participants engaged in activities such as tug of war, egg throwing, and slow drags. Bikers Of Africa also donated tyres courtesy of Dunlop Tyres SA towards the games played.
The day’s events were expertly hosted by Kari from Platinum Expendables Motorcycle Club and Jukebox from Top Shayela Motorcycle Club, who kept the crowd with their lively commentary and infectious energy.

As the sun set, the rally transitioned into a night of music and entertainment. A lineup of talented artists and DJs took to the stage, providing a vibrant atmosphere for the crowd to enjoy. The music, combined with the shared sense of purpose, created an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
As Segongwana MCC continues to uphold their tradition of charity and community service, they set a powerful example for other clubs and organizations. The annual rally is an effort that inspires others to share what they have with those less fortunate
