Marquez Adapting Well At Ducati
Marc Marquez’s highly anticipated MotoGP debut with Ducati at the Valencia Test in November marked a significant shift after 11 seasons with Honda. The excitement surrounding the eight-time World Champion increased as he concluded the day in fourth place, less than two tenths away from the top spot, setting the stage for the 2024 World Championship.
In an exclusive interview with DAZN, MotoGP’s Spanish broadcast partner, Marquez recently provided insights into his Ducati debut. Reflecting on the experience, Marquez admitted to feeling nervous and having butterflies in his stomach, acknowledging the substantial change despite his many years in the championship.
Describing the day as a process of adaptation, Marquez highlighted the adjustments made to the bike’s position to enhance his comfort. He emphasized the importance of understanding the new motorcycle and technical aspects, recognizing the need to learn and focus on consistency and safety rather than sheer speed.
When asked about the differences and similarities between Ducati’s bike and Honda’s RC213V, Marquez declined to make public comparisons. “I don’t like to compare motorcycles, especially in public. It’s a different bike, with a different riding style. You’re jumping onto the Champion’s bike and it’s in your hands because many riders go fast on it.”
Expressing surprise at how quickly he adapted, Marquez noted a positive feeling from the start, allowing him to achieve a good lap time without excessive effort. He also acknowledged the need to understand team dynamics and communication, recognizing the challenge of transitioning after eleven years with the same group. Despite the adjustments, Marquez appreciated the warm reception from his new team, creating a pleasant atmosphere that contributed to his sense of relaxation.
