SOUTH AFRICA: JUST CRUISING MCC CHARITY RUN
An initiative by “Just Cruising Motor Cycle Club” based in Dundee. This initiative was in aid of ABH (Aryan Benevolent Home’s) based in Glencoe KZN. The run took place on Sunday 9th August 2020. Bikers rode from their respective surburbs to meet at Total Oasis Garage in Ladysmith. The primary objective for the run was to raise funds for ABH and each person ( bikers and non bikers) pledged a minimum of R100 as a donation.
Robbers struck at the Aryan Benevolent Home’s (ABH) old age home in Glencoe on Friday 17 July 2020 evening. The men gained entry by cutting the barbed wire fence and the suspects took cash, a camera and they damaged doors, cupboards and ramshackled the entire elderly care facility. The armed men held nurses at gunpoint and they assaulted a staff nurse and thereafter entered the frail care section which treats the elderly, destitute and schizophrenia residents. Our residents are severely traumatized and they have had difficulty sleeping. A case has been opened at the Glencoe Police Station.
Naren Pattundeen interim CEO of the ABH said: “It is incredibly heartbreaking that people broke into our Home at Glencoe and traumatized our elders and our nurses who are our frontline heroes. Our dedicated staff and our distressed elderly residents have received counselling and we pray that they will be able to heal from this awful ordeal. As a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) we try our best to ensure that the ABH is a home away from home and we hope that we can amplify our security measures to ensure that our vulnerable residents and committed staff are safe and protected at all times. We plan to install Xpanda Gates which will cost R25 000. I urge corporates and individuals to please assist our Home. The ABH faces great financial pressure as 50% of our funding is subsidized by the State and the balance is raised through fundraising initiatives which have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Every donation counts and I sincerely thank you for helping our staff and elderly residents survive this horrific ordeal”.
The ABH is a registered NPO therefore donations are tax-deductible.
