SOUTH AFRICA: KASI TO KASI CHARITY RUN
Bikers across Gauteng came together once more for 10th Edition of the Kasi to Kasi Charity Run. The group comprises of independent\solo and club
riders who pledge a minimum of R100 each weekend as a form of contribution towards the purchase of food parcels. These food parcels are
then later distributed to needy families. Donation worthy households are screened a week prior to distribution and delivery of these food parcels.
Most people were under the impression that this charitable cause was funded by government, but in reality, a group of selfless bikers have committed themselves to helping families in dire need of basic commodities during lockdown. A whatsapp group was formed where individuals pledge a minimum of R100, proof of payment is then posted on the whatsapp group for all to see, thereafter collected amounts are then reconciled into a spreadsheet. This entire transaction process is completely transparent to all, so much so that the group has not experienced any issues regarding misappropriations of any funds.
The tenth edition of Kasi To Kasi Charity Run was held in Mohlakeng and Toekomsrus in the WestRand. A sum of over R10 000 was collected for this particular run. The next Kasi to Kasi Charity Run will be hosted in Welkom in the Free Street on 8 August 2020. Thus far, a collected amount is once again in the region of 10k.
