UGANDA BIKERS ASSOCIATION
Since inception in 2003, Uganda Bikers has combined the joy of riding with charity activities. Some of our major past activities include;
The western part of Uganda was hit with floods where some people lost their lives and many houses destroyed. Uganda Bikers in collaboration with the Uganda Red Cross donated 110 mattresses to the people that were left homeless. The function was presided over by Mr. Jacob Oulanya who is both member and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda.
We continued our commitment to Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja where we supported their initiative of raising awareness about Women’s cancer. We supported the cause with UGX 1.0 million.
Continuing our cancer awareness campaign; we donated 167 mattresses to Hospice Palliative Care Jinja. This was through our ‘share a bed’ campaign. We rode through Kampala and Busoga region raising awareness about cancer and seeking sponsorship from individuals and corporates thus delivering on our promise to the Hospice project.
We launched the first major cancer awareness campaign that resulted in our first donation of 57 mattresses to the needy cancer patients through Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja. This was an eye opener event for Uganda Bikers, following which we agreed to carry on the campaign as part of our 2018 strategy.
We donated UGX 5 million to Matany Hospital in Karamoja, which was our contribution to the purchase and installation of a breast cancer screening machine. The machine is now saving many patients from long distance travels to Kampala and has resulted in patients getting early diagnosis and easier access to prescriptions.
During the Festive season of 2015 Uganda Bikers fundraised UGX 3 million for Abatevu Orphanage of Busika Road; this money was raised towards a tumor treatment of a 4-year-old child under the orphanage’s care. At the same event we funded and cooked lunch for the kids at the orphanage, it was a day well spent.
Through our fundraising drive Uganda Bikers was able to attract support from the “Indian High Commission”. This was in form of a 4-year Indian University scholarship to the successful orphan child from Reach-Out Mbuya Programme. The child has since then reported to university in India all expenses fully paid by the Indian Government.
UGX 20 million was set aside for Operation School Fees of the Reach-Out Initiative, Mbuya Parish and was handed over during early 2009.
An anonymous sponsor refunds the Uganda Bikers the Ush 2.35 million donated to St Joseph’s School during the previous year. The Uganda Bikers promptly donated the UGX 2.35 million to the school which now boasts a modern toilet block.
The Uganda Bikers concentrated on HIV Aids during the North South East West campaign, reaching the rural population of Uganda with their HIV Aids awareness message.
UGX 20 million is once again donated to Operation School Fees of Reach Out Mbuya and children’s clothing distributed in the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in the Gulu area.
UGX 2.35 is donated to St. Josephs School towards completion of school buildings

The East West North South campaign concentrated mainly on Uganda. In addition to donating surplus funds of UGX 20 million facilitating school fees for 90 orphans, UGX 2.3 million is donated towards improving the school buildings of St. Josephs School Kireka, providing a better learning environment to the orphans.
The government of Rwanda welcomes the Uganda Bikers during a 3000 km journey reaching as far as the southern border. Our message of HIV Aids prevention is well received and appreciated. During a pre-Christmas visit to the Internally Displaced People (IDP) camps in the Gulu area the Uganda Bikers distributed several tons of children’s clothing and candy.
During the HIV Aids Ambassadors of Hope ride twelve riders and three support crew covered 6027 km from South Africa through Botswana, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya to Kampala promoting HIV Aids prevention. Interaction with Cycle Technologies South Africa leads to a similar effort being launched in South Africa, in co-operation with the Love-Life organization. Surplus funds of UGX 12 million donated to Reach-Out Mbuya facilitate school fees for 60 orphans.
