UGANDA BIKERS ASSOCIATION
Since inception in 2003, Uganda Bikers has combined the joy of riding with charity activities. Some of our major past activities include;
2020
The western part of Uganda was hit with floods where some people lost their lives and many houses destroyed. Uganda Bikers in collaboration with the Uganda Red Cross donated 110 mattresses to the people that were left homeless. The function was presided over by Mr. Jacob Oulanya who is both member and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda.
2019
We continued our commitment to Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja where we supported their initiative of raising awareness about Women’s cancer. We supported the cause with UGX 1.0 million.
2018
Continuing our cancer awareness campaign; we donated 167 mattresses to Hospice Palliative Care Jinja. This was through our ‘share a bed’ campaign. We rode through Kampala and Busoga region raising awareness about cancer and seeking sponsorship from individuals and corporates thus delivering on our promise to the Hospice project.
2017
We launched the first major cancer awareness campaign that resulted in our first donation of 57 mattresses to the needy cancer patients through Rays of Hope Hospice Jinja. This was an eye opener event for Uganda Bikers, following which we agreed to carry on the campaign as part of our 2018 strategy.
2016
We donated UGX 5 million to Matany Hospital in Karamoja, which was our contribution to the purchase and installation of a breast cancer screening machine. The machine is now saving many patients from long distance travels to Kampala and has resulted in patients getting early diagnosis and easier access to prescriptions.
2015
During the Festive season of 2015 Uganda Bikers fundraised UGX 3 million for Abatevu Orphanage of Busika Road; this money was raised towards a tumor treatment of a 4-year-old child under the orphanage’s care. At the same event we funded and cooked lunch for the kids at the orphanage, it was a day well spent.
2014
Through our fundraising drive Uganda Bikers was able to attract support from the “Indian High Commission”. This was in form of a 4-year Indian University scholarship to the successful orphan child from Reach-Out Mbuya Programme. The child has since then reported to university in India all expenses fully paid by the Indian Government.
